A friendly reminder that money is due to our CAT moms by September 9th. Remember, they are asking for a one time donation of $20.00. This will cover so many different kinds of supplies and class parties throughout the year.

Reading:
Next week we will continue to look at character traits. We will focus on making predictions based on how a character acts, a character’s motivation, and a character’s strengths and weaknesses.
Writing:
This past week we focused on writing our personal narratives with a storyteller voice instead of a reporter voice. We want our writing to be exciting for our readers which is why we want to use a storyteller voice. Next week we will focus on revising and also adding paragraphs, dialogue, and elaboration.
Math:
This week we really discussed place value and rounding. We worked on rounding to tens and hundreds. We also started reviewing addition and subtraction. Any practice you can provide at home will help them grow stronger with the content. Fluency is such an important part of 3rd grade. We will be continuing to look at addition and subtraction next week.
Science:
Our first science unit will be on Georgia's habitats. Students have been introduced and expected to know the 5 major regions of GA: Mountains, Piedmont, Swamps & Marshes, Coastal Plain, and Ocean. We have been putting a lot of study materials into their interactive notebook. Our first test is on Wednesday August 31st!
Important Dates:
August 31st 2016- Picture Day
August 31st 2016– Curriculum Night
September 2nd- Teacher Workday- No School
September 5th-Labor Day, No School
