Parents we need your help. Fidgets and Slime have become a huge distraction in the classroom. They are sharing them and not using them for their original intent. We would appreciate it if those items were left at home. Thank you for your help with this!

PBL: We are looking for supplies to be donated for us to complete our PBL. Please see the link to sign up for items and start sending them in! This is a grade level sign up so that we can insure that all students have what they need for this PBL! This is a fun one and you will get to see their finished product at Spring Showcase :)

Remind: In order to keep everyone updated and in attempt to reach the parents quickly, we are going to use Remind. It is an app/web based program that allows us to message you with reminders. We will still make sure things are written in their agenda but this allows Ms. Moore and Miss Wilson to get a hold of parents quickly. Please use this link to join: www.remind.com/join/e6a67g
Reading
We started our research clubs. The students will be researching 2 different animals and then comparing and contrasting them. This should take a couple of weeks. Hopefully you will see their finished product at Spring Showcase.
PLEASE make sure your kiddo is reading at home!! Remember that one of the best ways to help your kiddo become a better reading is by having them read every night. Some students haven't been filling out their reading log which tells us they haven't been reading. Please make sure you have your kiddo read about 20 minutes a night. Since I can never remember to give out a reading log, there is one attached here on the website.
Writing
As we move along with our research, we will work on the writing part of the animal research project. This will give them time during reading and writing to work on it.
Science/Social Studies
We studiedn Cesar Chavez and Thurgood Marshall this week. We let the kids think about what product that might want to make for their PBL. We also discussed all of our biographies and how we will research them. Starting Monday we will begin work on our PBL! Please see the link above to sign up for supplies for our PBL!
Our last science unit will be on Magnets! :)
Math
We worked on time and capacity this week! We will have a test on this Wednesday May 3rd. We finished their study guide up in class and it went home Thursday.
We can not stress enough the importance of the kids learning their multiplication facts. This will be so important on the milestones and during math in 4th grade. 4th grade math teachers expect that students come in knowing their multiplication facts. So please keep practicing :)
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE still continue practicing multiplication facts. We can not stress how important it is to know these facts. Everything is building off of those facts. We have noticed that many kids aren't studying their facts! Area is so hard for them when they don't know their facts. We really need the kids to be studying those facts. The more successful they are with their fluency, the easier the rest of the year will be. We will be giving the kiddos plenty of tools and strategies to help make them successful but please know that we need your help as well.
Parents,
Field Day will be Monday, May 15th. Please make note of this! This year we are on teams and our class has the color Green. They are welcome to wear their red field day t shirts. But if you have any green hats, bandannas, hair color, sunglasses, etc. please dress in green. Please also make sure your kiddo has on closed toe shoes, shorts, and a water bottle. Parents will be providing us with graham crackers and Gatorade (Look for a link coming soon). We will also be eating lunch in the classroom that day as well.
If you have any questions or concerns please let us know!

- What to do/bring Monday:
- Wear sunscreen!
- Bring a water bottle with your name on it and a snack that doesn't have to stay cold.
- Students may bring a towel to sit , wear a hat or sunglasses, and have a change of clothes for when the day is over if they wish. This is optional but we will have a lot of water stations this year.
- Students are responsible for any items that they take outside with them. There will be no wagon for students to put items in, but they can carry their stuff in a small bag if they want.
If you have any questions or concerns please let us know!
